Vicki is Celebrating Fifteen Years' Service!

We'd like to take a moment to recognise the hard work and achievements of The Grange and Elm Court's Registered Manager Vicki Ellis. Vicki has worked with our company for an amazing fifteen years. That kind of service isn't brushed under the carpet, we're afraid Vicki...

Our Managing Director Vicki Weller says of Vicki Ellis's years of service...

"Vicki has been at The Grange and Elm Court for fifteen and a half years, and has worked her way up to the top. She remains incredibly grounded, and will help her staff members with whatever they need.

The residents of The Grange and Elm Court always come first, and Vicki works hard to ensure they have all that they need. The home is truly blessed to have her at the helm. The Grange and Elm Court offers a unique service. Vicki, you are an inspiration to us all.

Vicki's work ethic, positive attitude and Northern charm make her a fantastic person to work with, and for. I dearly hope that The Grange and Elm Court can continue to provide its incredible service under your leadership. Well done and congratulations, too, for your recent 'Good' CQC inspection rating. You, and your team, are amazing at what you do.

Well done on your fifteen years of service, and here's to many more."

We are so grateful for managers like Vicki, who put their everything into making our homes what it is. Thank you, Vicki, for dedicating so much of your time to The Grange and Elm Court, and for ensuring that staff members and residents are always safe, happy and confident.

Christmas Cards of Kindness

If you follow our Postcards of Kindness project on Facebook you'll know we recently partnered with thortful.com cards to raise money for Dementia Adventure via a very special collection of postcards. Detailed below, the concepts for the cards were developed by members of the charity's special interest group, each one living with a form of dementia, and brought to life by members of thortful's community of creators. The idea is very simple; via the thortful app anyone will be able to choose a postcard and send Christmas wishes and memories to any of our 1,000+ care homes registered with Postcards of Kindness. 100% of the profits from each card's sale will go to Dementia Adventure, a charity that promotes, organises and funds outdoor adventures for those living with dementia. The hope is that each card will trigger nostalgia or inspire a conversation, to let care home residents know they're not alone this Christmas - a priceless outcome for just 99p. The cards can

My Week With Your Health Limited

My work experience wasn’t what I had expected. As someone who has always wanted to work in care or medicine, going to a care home was my first thought when told I needed to find a work experience placement.  When Your Health Limited accepted me for the week, I was ecstatic. Yes, I couldn’t be based at a care home for the whole week, and that was slightly disappointing, but I could still experience what care was like, and get a look behind the scenes as well. The first care home I went to was Langwith Lodge, in Nottinghamshire.  Not having been to many care homes beforehand, I wasn’t entirely sure what I was going to see, or what to expect. Would everyone just stay in their beds, eating, sleeping and never truly aware of the world?  Whatever I expected, it didn’t come close to what I actually found.  The residents were moving freely around the home, engaging in the different activities on offer, chatting with the carers and other residents.  It was incredible; you’d almost never

Postcards Of Kindness Spreading Joy This Summer

Your postcards are making a real difference this summer, and beyond... Last year our care group launched the Postcards of Kindness appeal, which asked members of our homes' local communities to send postcards from wherever in the world they'd been on holiday. While we knew that some individuals were likely to receive cards from their own relatives we wanted to include everybody at each home; we wanted to ensure that no resident was left out, and make every adventure accessible to all. The response to our appeal was phenomenal, and thousands of cards from all around the world were received in a very short space of time. Not only did our homes receive postcards from friends, relatives and neighbours, but cards also came from people living on the other side of the world and everywhere in between. The senders were keen to share details of their hometowns and holidays, and inspire happy memories for our residents to share with staff members. Our campaign hoped to alleviate
