Wanted: Your Christmas Cards of Kindness

Can you help our residents across ten homes to unlock their memories of Christmases past, as they enjoy Christmas present with family, friends and our staff members?  We're asking for your Christmas Cards of Kindness, wherever you are in the world! We'd like you to fill your cards with happy memories of your own Christmases past, and remind our residents of some of the things they might have received, experienced and enjoyed in years gone by. What are your favourite Christmas  memories? What were, and are your own Christmas traditions? Your recollections could help our residents to recall what their Christmases sounded, smelled and tasted like, and will inspire moments of nostalgia that really enrich the lives of those we work with, and for -  particularly those who may be confused by the appearance of paraphernalia that might be alien to what they remember Christmas to be .  We're keen to learn more about Christmases around the world, too. Cedar Court Dementia Care Home's Visit to Sudbury Hall and The Museum of Childhood

The day couldn't have been better for our visit to the National Trust Sudbury Hall and Museum of Childhood yesterday; the sun was shining brightly and the wind, though chilly, kept at bay as our residents made their way into the museum. We had plenty of blankets for the occasion, too! Accompanying staff members were Kath, Ken and Barbara, who enjoyed the minibus journey immensely. We were ready for an afternoon trip down memory lane... Sudbury Hall is currently closed to visitors as staff members and volunteers prepare the venue for Christmas. The 17th Century hall is getting ready to sparkle in time for the festive season, and we can't wait to see pictures of it in all its glory. However, we'd come to take a look at the collections of old toys and games in anticipation of our December theme of childhood, playfulness and imagination. Ken, Barbara and Kath were looking forward to reacquainting themselves with some of their favourite nicknacks from years gone by

Congratulations are in order at Langwith Lodge Residential Home

After a delicious three-course meal and a tense wait we were thrilled to discover that we'd won not one, but two awards at last night's  Great British Care Awards East Midlands Awards. Langwith Lodge Residential Home's manager Zoe Searston secured the East Midlands Registered Care Manager Award, while activities co-ordinator Janet Mansbridge won the East Midlands Activities Co-ordinator Award. The awards are hotly contested, and we were so delighted to hear the ladies' names read out. The awards are thoroughly deserved, and stand as a testament to Zoe and Janet's hard work, passion, dedication and care. Langwith Lodge is a wonderful place for residents and staff, and that's because of the amazing team Zoe has in place. Well done, ladies. We are so proud of you! A special mention must go to our Health, Safety and Training Manager Mick Murphy. He was nominated for the East Midlands Care Trainer Award, and secured a runner-up position. Again, we are so p
